S&P blends equities and US Treasuries in new index

Standard and Poor's has launched a series of indexes that combine US Treasuries and equities.

Standard and Poor's (S&P) Balanced Equity and Bond indexes, a series of indexes that combine investable S&P measures of the core asset classes of equity and fixed income with US Treasury pricing, has been launched by the index provider in conjunction with BGCantor Market Data.

In addition to allowing investors to take advantage of the historically low correlation in the returns of US equities and US Treasuries, the indexes were launched to allow investors a choice in the amount of risk embedded
