Uralsib's great expectations

The Russian structured products market is still young and Uralsib only entered it a few months ago, but it is rapidly increasing its business and is confident the market will establish itself this year. Clare Dickinson reports.

Uralsib has traditionally been an equity house and has operated in the equity derivatives market for some years. The Russian bank recently launched a structured products business, offering its first structured notes to Russian investors at the end of last year.

Franz Hep joined the bank's Moscow office as head of structured products in June to help establish the business. Hep says there is already huge demand in the Russian market and he is confident that the bank can sell $100 million of
