AK Asset Management's Turkish delight

Now three years old, Akbank subsidiary AK Asset Management was a prime mover in structured products in Turkey and has notched up 24 funds and assets under management of more than 7.2 billion Turkish lira. Rebecca Hampson talks to Tolon Aydos, the firm’s Istanbul-based senior vice-president, about the firm’s operations and the market in Turkey

AK Asset Management (Akam) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Akbank in Istanbul. The asset manager launched the country's first capital-protected fund in December 2007 and has since created 15 live funds in the country, totalling US$260 million (€194 million).

Managing mutual funds, individual and institutional portfolios, Akam also manages pension funds for Akbank and Avivasa in Turkey. The firm has total assets under management (AUM) of 7.2 billion Turkish lira (€3.65 billion). "Our first fund
