ETF investments triple in wake of financial crisis, says Barclays Stockbrokers

More and more UK investors are using ETFs to diversify their portfolios, according to Barclays Stockbrokers.

The value of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) held by investors has risen more than threefold since the start of the financial crisis, while the number of investors using the products has doubled, says Barclays Stockbrokers.

The combined value of the ETFs held by the firm's UK clients has increased more than 330% since September 2008, according to its latest report. The report states that the average deal size has increased by 88% and the volume of assets invested on a monthly basis is up 60%.
