Garanti Invest: the risk-free arranger

Garanti Invest is a middleman in Denmark’s retail investor market. Focusing purely on structured notes, its concentration on simple themes with minimal risk has seen it ride out the financial crisis relatively unscathed. Rebecca Hampson reports

Garanti Invest, an arranger of structured notes in Denmark, was created in 1998 by 42 local banks and an insurance company. "From the beginning, the intention has been that Garanti Invest should develop a structured products line for distribution among its shareholders," says Thomas Valentiner, the firm's Copenhagen-based deputy chief executive. "This is the prime distribution platform focused at local banks in Denmark."
