S&P 500 benchmarked assets reach $4.83 trillion

Standard & Poor's survey shows large gains in assets benchmarked against its indexes

US assets make up majority of S&P indexed assets

The S&P 500 had an estimated US$4.83 trillion benchmarked to it at the end of last year, according to Standard & Poor's (S&P) annual survey of its indexed assets. Indexed assets on the S&P 500 accounted for approximately $1.1 trillion of this total.

Total indexed assets for all S&P indexes was estimated to be almost $1.26 trillion, with $1.2 trillion of that coming from US assets and $53 billion from global indexes, excluding the US.

The S&P MidCap 400 Index saw the largest gains in indexed
