Morgan Stanley creates ETF lending book to boost market liquidity

Morgan Stanley has created a European exchange-traded fund (ETF) lending book across multiple issuers, which will allow investors to express market views by shorting ETFs and increase liquidity in the market.

Create-to-lend involves borrowing the constituent stocks in the underlying basket and working with the issuer to create new ETF shares. These shares can then be lent out to an investor looking to go short.
