Transition management is gaining popularity in Australia, with longer transitions using off-exchange trading platforms becoming increasingly common. But there are plenty of risks associated with such trades. Rachel Alembakis reports

The number and dollar amount of transition management events increased significantly in Australia during 2009 and the first quarter of 2010, according to specialist providers. The uptick in business was due largely to an overhang of transitions that were put on hold during the worst periods of market volatility in 2008 and the early part of 2009.
