ETF Securities offers more access to commodity futures

ETF Securities (ETFS) has launched four more exchange traded commodities (ETCs) on the London Stock Exchange which will give investors exposure to commodity futures prices. The commodities will track the Dow Jones-AIG three-month forward indexes for natural gas, heating oil, live cattle and lean hogs.

The ETCs have been launched in response to investor demand for access to different parts of commodities’ curves as backwardation and contango affect returns.

The Dow Jones-AIG three-month forward indexes were launched to meet to meet investor appetite for more sophisticated commodity investment and outperform traditional indexes, says ETFS. The first nine forward tracking ETCs were launched by ETFS on the LSE six weeks ago, and since then have accumulated $30m in assets.
