Dow Jones offers new Indian index

Dow Jones Indexes has launched the Dow Jones India Titans 30 index, which is designed to provide exposure to the 30 largest and most liquid stocks listed on the Bombay Stock exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India. The index will be licensed as the basis for financial investments such as structured products and ETFs.

The composition of the index is based on ranking free-float market capitalisation and 12-month average daily trading volume. The top five companies comprise Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies, HDFC, Bharti Airtel and Larsen & Toubro. The index is calculated in US dollar and Indian rupee.

The provider also plans to launch the Global Dow, an index whose components are selected by the editors of the Wall Street Journal.
