Two senior figures in the global credit industry have formed a hedge fund that aims to provide absolute returns through the quality of its research.

Gartmore, a UK-based asset management firm, has run the AlphaHedge Credit fund since 2003, set up by two stalwarts of the credit world.

Varkki Chacko, previously head of global credit strategy at Goldman Sachs in New York, now runs the fund from the firm’s New Jersey office. Mark Wauton, who manages its operations in London, previously headed UBS Global Asset Management’s European fixed-income division, where he was responsible for credit strategy for $30 billion of funds.
