Pension funds to boost f-i uptake

The National Association of Pension Funds has forecast a shift in asset allocation within pension funds towards the bond markets away from equities. “Trustees of pension funds are becoming more concerned about the solvency of defined benefit schemes they are running,” says Terry Faulkner, chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds.

For Faulkner, the key issue is that new contributions into defined benefit pension schemes do not cover existing payments from funds already built up
