Securitisation - Aegon releases £250 million of regulatory capital

Aegon UK has released £250 million of regulatory capital with a value-in-force (VIF) securitisation of the future earnings from its unit-linked life books to four investment banks - its second such deal in 18 months.

Aegon's previous transaction won Life & Pensions' Deal of the Year award in 2007, and the structure of both is similar - but the key difference with the latest deal was the decision to use an open, rather than a closed, book of Aegon's Scottish Equitable business.
