Calyx diversifies

US-based alternative investment marketer and provider Calyx Financial is relatively new to the global distribution space. But in just over three years it has built up a database of 15,000 distributors and is now considering a move into the note-linked and direct management business. Shamillia Sivathambu reports

Formed in October 2002, New York-based Calyx Financial specialises in providing hedge funds, private equity and other alternative investment products to a global audience. "We cater for management firms that lack distribution outside their own region," says Edward Strohbehn, managing director of Calyx. Using a series of sub-advised proprietary and non-proprietary funds, Calyx promotes those managers to a wider audience than they could otherwise access, linking them to its database of 15,000
