Icecap closes China carbon deal

Icecap Carbon Trading has signed a deal with China's Shanxi Jincheng Anthracite Mining Group over the sale and purchase of some 7 million certified emission reductions (CERs) over a six year period.

Icecap has agreed to invest in the first Chinese large-scale coal mine methane power generation project, which will reduce greenhouse gases by capturing methane extracted from the Sihe coal mine in the Shanxi Province and using it to generate electricity.
