HK SFC puts structured product approvals under the microscope

Regulator conducts review of sales practices after minibond fiasco

Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has sought additional information from dealers that may delay approvals of structured product issues for retail distribution, following protests from domestic investors that have lost money from the blow-up of structured credit investments.

The SFC has introduced the measures ahead of a report it - along with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) - is conducting on the sale of structured products in the territory. The report is due to be
