Having recently merged with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, BlackRock is now one of the world's largest asset managers. Jayne Jung talks to Ron D'Vari, head of the firm's structured finance collateralised debt obligation division

BlackRock, the New York-based investment management firm, has been a major player in US fixed-income asset management for nearly two decades. But last September, the firm took one of its most significant steps since its launch in 1988. By merging with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, BlackRock broadened its global reach, product capabilities and retail distribution, while its assets under management doubled to $1.154 trillion.

Around $25 billion of this is managed by BlackRock's collateralised
