CDS spreads narrow on financials

European financials faced improved market sentiment in early trading today, with the cost of credit protection falling on France's three biggest banks.

Five-year senior credit default swap (CDS) spreads referencing BNP Paribas had moved in by 94.35 basis points at 17:00 pm London time today (12.00 pm New York time) from 105.02bp at close of trade in New York yesterday, according to data from credit information specialist CMA Datavision.

Spreads on fellow French firm Société Générale tightened 9.43bp to 115.57bp, while CDSs on Credit Agricole moved to 109.91bp from 118.88bp.

Credit protection on emerging markets bank Standard Chartered moved in
