Uncertainty in the financial system dominated many commodity markets last year and, despite their traditional ‘safe haven’ status, precious metals markets were not immune to credit contagion. Despite volatile market conditions in 2008, JP Morgan’s precious metals franchise consistently met its customers’ changing needs and showed leadership by continually quoting prices and providing liquidity. As such, the judging panel felt the bank was well worthy of the Precious Metals House of the Year
