The European Commission has failed to quell concerns around its proposals to safeguard European energy markets, despite assertions that a controversial price cap could be suspended if it poses a wider risk to supply or stability.

European energy ministers met on November 24 to discuss proposals aimed at alleviating high gas prices across the bloc. The measures include a market correction mechanism, which would cap the price of front-month TTF gas futures under certain conditions.
