Dealers predict ‘softening’ of NSFR in Europe

Some banks' pricing already assumes the rule will be watered down

Dialogue between the EC and the EBA has slowed the rule's progress in Europe

European dealers expect policy-makers to water down the derivatives funding requirement in the region's version of the net stable funding ratio (NSFR) before it enters the statute books. Some are so convinced that they have already adjusted their swap pricing accordingly.

"We are expecting a consultation paper from the European Union in the second half of this year. The informal indications we have had is that it will represent a softening of the rules relative to those currently published,"
