Barclays Capital brings iPath ETNs to Asia and Europe

Barclays Capital launched and listed the first exchange-traded notes (ETNs) in ex-Japan Asia on December 9, the same day it launched the first iPath ETN in Europe. BarCap first launched the senior, unsecured, unsubordinated debt securities in the US in 2006, when the structure was named innovation of the year in the Structured Products awards.

The Europe ETNs offer exposure to volatility through the S&P 500 Vix Short-Term Futures and S&P 500 Vix Mid-Term Futures. The notes are listed on the
