There's no doubt that Andy Gooch takes the helm at Nymex Europe Limited in interesting times. While NEL's trading floor is in danger of closure, arch rival IntercontinentalExchange's new WTI contract has gained significant volume

If anyone has the experience to address Nymex Europe's latest challenges, Gooch, previously the global head of commodities at Calyon, would appear well-equipped, having been in commodities, futures and options all his working life. Starting at Gill & Duffus in 1977, Gooch moved to Premier Man in 1982, before moving to Rouse Woodstock in 1984. This is where he stayed for 20 years as it moved through various incarnations to become Calyon.
