Spectron trades first OTC carbon option settled on CCFE

Energy broker Spectron has brokered the first over-the-counter carbon dioxide option settled against the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange (CCFE)

The December 2010 CCFE $3.00/$4.00 strangle option (an options position consisting of the purchase or sale of put and call options with the same expiration but different strike prices) was concluded at a premium of $1.30 for 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2). The names of both counterparties involved in the trade are to be kept confidential.
