Systematic internaliser (SI)
The term refers to a European Union regulatory classification that applies primarily to market-makers and interdealer brokers. SIs conduct a significant amount of bilateral trading off-venue and deal on their own account. They are subject to pre- and post-trade transparency requirements. The operator of an SI cannot own an organised trading facility in the same legal entity.
