The total amount of custody business won in 2012, recognised by assets under custody in Custody Risk’s 11th global survey, was $1.27 trillion and returned to trend following the inclusion in last year’s rankings of a distorting $1.3 trillion win from bond manager Pimco, which edged the industry’s overall haul to nearly $3 trillion.

The 2012 overall figure compares with $880 billion in 2010’s table and $1.18 trillion in 2009. The $966 billion worth of business conducted in Europe in 2012
