Massachusetts REC futures start trading on CCFE

The Chicago Climate Futures Exchange (CCFE) has announced the successful completion of the first Massachusetts Renewable Energy Certificate (REC-MA) futures contract trade.

The trade, completed on January 27, was for 80 Massachusetts vintage 2009 REC contracts (representing 8,000 MA Class 1 RECs).

In addition to the REC-MA contract, CCFE also lists standardised futures contracts requiring delivery of Connecticut (REC-CT) and New Jersey (REC-NJ) Class 1 RECs, and voluntary Green-e Energy National Standard eligible RECs (REC-V).

Current open interest across all RECs traded on CCFE is at a record high of 2,890 contracts.
