The London Metal Exchange has been at the centre of an explosion in metals trading over the past few years. Martin Abbott, the firm's chief executive, talks to Ryan Davidson about the exchange's recent developments and plans for the future

Record oil prices and the associated impact on global inflation may have captured the headlines in recent months, but it is just one element of the boom that has reverberated through the commodities market. Metal prices have also soared, with many - including aluminium, copper and nickel - touching record highs in recent years.
