Trade surveillance product: Eventus
Eventus is a leading global provider of multi-asset class trade surveillance and market risk solutions. Its cloud-based Validus platform enables capital markets firms to address evolving regulations and exchange rules globally in the many jurisdictions in which they operate to meet their distinct trade surveillance needs.
Validus monitors, tracks and analyses trade flows and financial risk to maximise the efficiency of clients’ regulatory and compliance operations.
Compliance teams require ready-to-use tools for discovering all types of market manipulation strategies, addressing even the most complex market abuse behaviours.
The platform employs robotic process automation and machine learning to ensure only the most actionable alerts are escalated for further investigation. It uses anomaly detection and pattern analysis, enabling clients to reduce response time and avoid time-wasting chases. It also allows users to conduct surveillance activity on more than 100 exchanges and market centres globally, regularly adding new markets as clients need them.
Its advanced analytics and procedural automation can filter out noise and false positives, producing higher-quality alerts, while preserving information for both regulatory and supervisory review as well as analysis of patterns and practices.
Validus is also built to quickly scale as demand increases. This helped Eventus’ clients during the tremendous volatility and surge in activity that may have stressed other platforms in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the past year, Validus incorporated various enhancements and new features, including a more advanced insider trading module and enhanced fixed income capabilities with a comprehensive suite of procedures.
Eventus introduced Order Book Replay, allowing clients to analyse specific market events to understand how they impacted behaviours and any intent to manipulate the market. It has also extended surveillance procedures to cover numerous equity over-the-counter scenarios, expanded block trade functionality for major US markets and enhanced transaction monitoring workflow. All this provides a more seamless user experience for monitoring and alerting to anomalies and deposit/withdrawal activities as well as enhanced reporting tools.
A testament to the platform is that FTX.com – one of the largest global crypto exchanges – has signed up and is deploying Validus for trade surveillance and risk monitoring of all its markets worldwide.
