Convertible bond funds are not the easiest to explain. “Convertible bonds mean many different strategies to many different investors,” admits Alex McKnight, investment manager at GAM. He co-manages the GAM Convertible Bond Hedge Fund with Ben Helm, also an investment manager at GAM.

“What we try and do is extract whatever value we can in whatever strategy that the bond allows us to. We don’t just do traditional convertible bond arbitrage,” explains McKnight.
