In South-east Asia, the advances made by CIMB over the last year have consolidated its place as a major regional player, totting up healthy revenue growth, bold acquisitions, ability to offer cross-border products and front-running risk management developments.

In terms of geographical reach, the banking group moved into the Philippines via its 60% purchase of the Bank of Commerce in May from San Miguel Corporation. The new asset immediately gave the group a new avenue for wholesale banking
