Suren Pakhchanyan, PhD, is Head of Operational / Non-Financial Risk Management at SMBC Bank EU AG. Before joining SMBC, he was working as a senior manager in Risk Advisory at Deloitte and advising German and international financial institutions on the management of operational/Non-Financial risks. Dr. Pakhchanyan also holds a doctorate in this field (from the University of Oldenburg) and has published numerous scientific and professional articles on topics of Non-Financial Risk Management. He was also a visiting scholar at Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University (U.S.) and as an invited lecturer at The School of Business in Waterford (Ireland). Dr. Pakhchanyan has been active in operational risk management since 2012 and developed and implemented several approaches of operational risk management. He has two graduate degrees including a Master’s from the University of Oldenburg and Diploma from Yerevan State University.
