Ling-Jia Chen she works in the Small Business Finance Department in the headquarters of Bank of Jiangsu, which ranked 71st among global banks in terms of tier 1 capital in the list of “Top 1000 global banks in 2022” published by the Banker in July 2022. Since obtaining her master’s degree at the Business School of Nanjing University in 2009, she has been engaged in loan credit related work at the Bank of Jiangsu, including the system construction of small and micro credit loan businesses, product process design, automatic approval of loan applications and risk management. Relevant work accreditations have been awarded by the Bank of Jiangsu, Financial Regulatory Authority, and the Banking Association of China. Thanks to 13 years of rich practical experience, she is knowledgeable on loan theoretical research, credit data mining, scorecard modeling of credit, granting behavior of small and micro customers, and the universality and availability of small and micro loans. At present, she is studying for a doctorate at the School of Business, Nanjing University. Her research direction covers finance and digital finance.

The authors validate 12 of the most representative sample-balancing methods used for credit-scoring models, finding that a combined SMOTE and Editor Nearest Neighbor method is optimal.
