James is the CEO of Elm Partners, a systematic investment manager focused on optimal investment sizing in liquid global markets. He began his career at Bank of America in 2002, first in fixed-income quantitative research, then trading US Exotic Options. Following BoA, he was a portfolio manager at Citadel Investment Group focused on US interest-rate markets. In 2008, after leaving Citadel he co-founded the boutique investment group PAC Partners. After 10 years with PAC he joined Elm Partners as CEO in 2018. With his partner Victor Haghani at Elm, James is an active researcher and author, primarily focused on topics related to optimal decision-making under uncertainty.
