Donnacha Daly conducted this work as a Senior Researcher at the Chair of Entrepreneurial Risks, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ). He is an interdisciplinary technologist and entrepreneur with a passion for the application of sophisticated engineering methods to important societal and economic challenges. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from National University of Ireland, with a specialization in Signal Processing. Since 1997 he has collected wide ranging industrial experience in systems engineering, algorithms, time-series analysis and data-science. He has worked extensively in telecoms, semiconductors, energy and commodities, quantitative finance, and smart-grid. In more recent years he has turned his focus to innovation management with a strong emphasis on business development and project management for the creation of value around new technologies. This has included high-tech startup and entrepreneurship, strategic planning, business analysis, marketing & event management, M&A, corporate venturing and global strategic projects.
