Arsh Anand is currently pursuing her PhD in Business Economics from the KU Leuven. She is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) with a Masters in Business Administration from the KU Leuven and a Bachelors in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. She is a CFA Level 3 candidate. Before beginning her PhD, she worked in the financial services industry for six years. Her research interests include sustainable finance, credit risk and big data and analytics, among others. Her dissertation project investigates the determinants of sovereign credit risk beyond the known determinants, focusing on the interconnectedness of credit risk at the corporate and sovereign levels, as well as the importance of sustainability factors in credit risk management. Her project also explores the use of machine learning tools to improve and automate credit risk models. Her project also contributes to the discussion on the availability, reliability and use of ESG data, specifically ESG ratings and the role of sustainable financial instruments in transitioning to a sustainable economy. More recently, she worked with the World Bank Group as an external consultant on private sector development and sustainability related projects. She is currently working as a senior consultant at PwC within the sustainability team.
