Niklas Hartmann
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Niklas Hartmann is a Professor for Energy Systems and Energy Economics at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences with over 14 years of experience in energy system modeling, analysis, and evaluation. He is head of the research group Energy Systems and Energy Economics with eight researchers, has substantially developed classical optimization models of both the German and European energy systems (eg, PyPSA-Eur), and has his own simulation and optimization tools (eg, in the BMWi funded project NEMAR) for the trading of flexibility in distribution grids. Prof. Hartmann has coordinated various public and privately funded projects in Germany, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The focus of his scientific work is the commercialization of distributed energy systems and the analysis and evaluation of energy systems with a focus on the integration of high shares of renewable energies.
