Is the hedge fund industry moving onshore?

In the past month, the UK Financial Services Authority has opened the door to regulated hedge funds in the UK, and has more or less promised the UK Treasury would be sympathetic to the case for changing tax law to eliminate disadvantages of vehicles being based onshore. In addition, across the Channel, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and France have all moved to regulated onshore, either at the single, or fund of funds, level.
