Global macro waits in the wings

The first sign of rebirth in the sector was the announcement last month by International Investment and Underwriting in Dublin that it would launch a global macro fund with ex-Tiger Funds manager David Morrison. There have been other reports of the return of ex-Soros managers Stanley Druckenmiller and Scott Bessent to managing money.

Hedge fund sectors such as equity market neutral and long/short equity have lost their shine according to the September figures from CSFB/Tremont Hedge Fund Index.
