Risk Awards 2025: World’s largest investor is undergoing its biggest transformation in more than a decade

At BlackRock’s annual general meeting in May, chief executive officer Larry Fink told investors the company was undertaking its two biggest transformational steps since buying Barclays Global Investors 15 years ago. He was referring to the asset manager’s decision in January to “re-architecture” its organisation – to help extend the innovation of the iShares business to its broader products – and to the $12.5 billion acquisition of private markets investment firm, Global Infrastructure Partners
