Tradeweb buys MBS interdealer broker
E-trading marketplace Tradeweb has acquired Hilliard Farber, an interdealer voice brokerage for mortgage-backed and other US securities. The purchase marks Tradeweb's debut in the inter-dealer business, following a long period of dominance in the customer-to-dealer section of the debt and derivatives markets since the firm's inception in 1998. Tradeweb intends to launch an electronic inter-dealer platform for the mortgage-backed market early next year.
