CFTC fines Reliant and CMS

US energy companies CMS Energy and Reliant Resources will pay a total of $34million to resolve allegations of unfair energy trading, the latest settlementsto emerge from a year-long investigation by the US Commodity Futures TradingCommission (CFTC). Under the settlement terms, CMS and Reliant were not requireto admit or deny the CFTC allegations.

Two units of CMS (CMS Marketing Services & Trading and CMS Field Services)agreed to pay $16 million to settle allegations of false reporting and
