BoAML names Stevens head of EMEA futures amid derivatives hiring spree
Brooks Stevens has been appointed head of fixed-income futures and options for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BoAML), the latest in a series of promotions and new hires across derivatives businesses at the US bank.
Stevens was formerly head of the bank’s over-the-counter clearing client engagement effort in EMEA, leading the launch of buy-side interest rate swaps clearing at London-based clearing house LCH.Clearnet in December 2009.
In his new role, Brooks will continue to be based in London and will report to Gonzalo Chocano, global head of futures.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Bob Burke, previously head of US futures marketing, has taken up a new role as head of sales for OTC derivatives clearing in the Americas. He remains based in New York and will report to Bryan Weadock, head of fixed-income sales for the Americas.
Also in New York, Liam Hudson, formerly of Barclays Capital, where he was head of the Barx foreign exchange (FX) electronic trading platform for the Americas, will join BoAML as global head of electronic FX. He will report to Chris Bae and Tom Gillie, heads of FX trading for EMEA and the Americas respectively, and co-heads of global FX options.
Hudson’s arrival coincides with the appointment of Richard Elliott as head of electronic FX options trading in London. Elliott, who will be responsible for building the firm’s electronic options platform, was previously with Credit Suisse, developing an options platform for the Swiss dealer. He will report to Hudson.
The firm has also bolstered its Asian options trading capabilities with three new hires on its interest rates and currency desks in Hong Kong.
Vinit Sahni has joined as head of Asia and EMEA flow rates and currencies sales, and global head of hedge fund and central bank sales for rates and currencies. Formerly co-head of fixed-income, currency and commodities sales for Asia at Goldman Sachs, Sahni will report to David Gu, global head of rates and currencies.
Another Goldman alumnus recently hired by BoAML is Romanos Daniels, who has joined the bank as head of Asia-Pacific exotics trading. In his previous role with Goldman, Daniels was head of non-Japan G-7 and local market FX and rates exotics trading. He will report to Jin Su, head of Asia-Pacific local currency trading.
Daniels is joined by Ben Rosswick, the newly appointed head of G-10 FX options trading for Asia-Pacific, who reports to Kan Fung Li, head of G-10 FX trading for non-Japan Asia. He joins from Deutsche Bank in London, where he was most recently principal euro book-runner.
