Anonymity for whistleblowers ‘may undermine programme’
Protecting whistleblowers is essential, says Sean McKessy, chief of the SEC's whistleblower programme
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) hopes its first whistleblower award, issued on August 21, will encourage more whistleblowers to come forward. However, some feel the emphasis on protecting a whistleblower's identity may be undermining the programme.
