Growth has slowed but BVI remains popular

The British Virgin islands (BVI) has long been a leading jurisdiction for the establishment of hedge funds and funds of funds alike.

The early success of the BVI hedge funds industry may have been achieved in an unregulated environment, but since January 1998 with the introduction of the Mutual Funds Act, 1996, this has changed.
