Bank CDS spreads widen

The cost of credit protection rose this morning on European and US financials.

Five-year senior credit default swap (CDS) spreads referencing Commerzbank moved to 154.8bp at 12:15pm London time today from a close of 141.1bp, according to data from credit information specialist CMA Datavision. Spreads on Dresdner Bank, which was acquired by Commerzbank on January 12, widened to 153.4bp from 140bp.

CDSs on Deutsche Bank widened to 149.1bp from 145bp, while spreads on Natixis moved in to 335bp from 341.9bp.

In the US, the cost of credit protection on Bank of America rose to 285
