More than three years after the US subprime mortgage crisis began to engulf the financial system, regulators are putting the final touches to rules that reflect some of the lessons learned. Last month, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision published the final version of Basel III – a comprehensive package of measures that will increase minimum capital requirements, while also introducing a counter-cyclical charge, two liquidity ratios, a charge for credit value adjustment and a leverage
